Bangladesh kick off AFC U-20 campaign in style

Bangladeshs bid to qualify for the next round of the AFC U-20 Womens Asian Cup Qualifiers kicked off with a convincing 4-0 win over Turkmenistan in a Group H encounter at the Birshreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Friday.

Aklima Khatun and Swapna Rani struck a brace each against the Central Asian nation, who ended up being eliminated from the tournament with consecutive defeats, including a 1-7 drubbing at the hands of Iran in their opening fixture.

Bangladesh will take on Iran on Sunday and they would need nothing less than a victory if they are to secure a spot in the next round, a phase that no Bangladesh womens team barring the U-16 side could cement before.
